Our Biography

The Thompson Romney Farm is located about 5 miles from downtown Tacoma, WA. Because of the high annual rainfall we looked for a sheep breed that can tolerate lots of water. Romney’s are perfect for this area because they were originally bred for living in the Romney Marshes of England and are naturally hoof rot resistant Our flock has it's genetics in Schwider, Bullock, and Ironwater Our first "AI" lambs were born in 2004.

PROCESSED WOOL

Blackberry Patch grew out of a love of spinning and dying. We use natural  earth friendly processes to create the beautiful colors for our fiber products. We have washed, unwashed fleeces, dyed locks and processed roving. We also look for rare and unusual fibers that we can offer spinners such as Gotland sheep roving. Along with our friends and neighbors we have access to luxury fibers such as Alpaca, Llama, Mohair that we blend into wonderful creations that are suitable for many uses. Because we are a small farm, our products are one of a kind with the natural variations that cannot be duplicated. If you are looking for something special we can help you create it.

HAND DYED YARNS & FLEECES

Blackberry Patch believes in using all natural and non toxic dyes when ever possible. We also scour the herb gardens orchards and local forests for the ingredients to create these one of a kind colors with all their natural variations. Miki, our dye specialist, is always looking for brand new or very old techniques to use. Contact Miki Miki@BPfarms.com if you have any special requests you would like her to do for your projects
